The Elakha Alliance is pleased to present this scientific Feasibility Study Draft regarding sea otter reintroduction in Oregon. A team of six leading scientists (led by Dr. Tim Tinker) evaluated key dimensions of a proposed sea otter reintroduction, including source population dynamics, habitat suitability, ecological considerations, social and economic impacts, legal requirements, logistics, and more.
I was asked to create a graphic package to bring this report to the public. The request included icons for each chapter and a graphic for a title page. This title page graphic became the poster as a piece for an over delivery.
Restoring a population of sea otters on the Oregon coast is feasible if steps are taken to account for ecological, habitat, logistic, economic, and social factors highlighted in this Feasibility Study. There appear to be no insurmountable ecological, habitat, physiological, logistical, or regulatory barriers to restoring a population of sea otters in Oregon.

“Sea otters are often considered to be a textbook example of a “keystone species”, defined as a species that has disproportionately large effects on its ecosystem relative to its abundance”
